These pieces were created, circa 1990, by means of the following system:
The controller was a Commodore 64 computer running custom software. The software generated loop-based algorithmic compositions in real time, under the guidance of occasional high-level commands from the author. The computer sent MIDI instructions to a Yamaha TX81Z synthesizer, which produced all the sounds. The music was recorded directly from the synthesizer to cassette tape, which was later edited, first on tape and then digitally. There was no mixing or overdubbing, mostly just fadeins and fadeouts, and some creative splicing.
All the music uses a Just Intonation scale of 21 tones per octave.
